The Infomation Age Blog

Day 1
  •  I used the internet by broadband and computer to access information on a topic. This used multimedia through the text and images on the webpage that I took information from. The broadband allowed fast access as it uses digital signals rather than analogue, digital signals do not need to be converted unlike analogue.
Day 2
  • I used the Digital TV for entertainment, this was through a Sky+ box which is a processed signal, sky+ allows more channels to be shown unlike analogue television which only allowed 5. What allowed me to watch my television was the satellite dish which created a signal for the channel i watched. A disadvantage of digital television is the effect it had on advertisement, advertisement sales declined due to the fact people could fast forward the adverts and/or switch to a number of different channels.
Day 3
  • I phoned my mum on my mobile phone. I visually saw on the interactive screen that I had a missed call, my Samsung Galaxy S2 allows a shortcut where I can slide the missed called icon to the right and it will connect to the signal and ring back the person I had a missed call on. I did this because it was quicker and simpler than going onto the contacts application, searching for her name and then ringing her.
Day 4
  • I used the iPad to google infomation on Facebook shares statistics. Apple iPad allows you to access the internet quickly and efficiently.
Day 5
  • I used GPS to transfer a JPEG picture from my phone to the computer without any leads. An interactive application installed on my phone called Kies Air allows me to transfer the pictures into any file i want.
Day 6
  • I used digital Tv to watch a television program, the remote that I used connects by infrared to contol the television.
  • - I also used my smart mobile phone to check my emails, how I did this was  through a mobile app, similar to an interactive website but designed for a smaller screen that a computer or laptop. I checked my emails to connect easily with online shopping businesses. Wireless allowed me to do this, as my phone has GPS manually installed, this allowed me to easily pick up a signal from surrounding areas and use the signal for my own use.
Day 7
  • I tested a Smart Television, it is set up in a similar format as an interactive webpage, however you can control it by voice as well.
  • I didn't use ICT in my art lesson to research into artists, instead I searched through books, however i find that the internet has a lot more information available and with advanced search you can be more specific with what you want to find.
Summary- All of the interactions I have used this week are an example of just how important technologies and interactivity are in our everyday lives. Technologies such as the internet inform people on a vast range of information  this information grows everyday and people learn from it more and more as time goes on, not only is the information the internet holds growing, but it is also becoming a lot more reliable. In years to come technologies will be more able than the human brain. Privacy rights are useful and in businesses a vital thing which protects the company. Copy right and legislation has the potential to become more and more strict as each day illegal actions are being held over the internet or over devices, whether its illegal downloads or illegal selling and buying, in the future consequences will be help whether they are small or large, however presently police of any kind are rarely informed.  Privacy is usually recognized through social networks, when on 'Facebook' you can make personal settings in which only specific people can only view your profile  or as many people as you like can view it. The higher and more limiting your security settings are the less information will be shared. Technology is constantly effecting on employment, people are able to find out about available jobs easier and faster, with online applications and the emailing services, also telephone numbers can be shown on the internet, that example links two kinds of technologies together. The Digital Divide will soon be a rising issue that will eventually effect everybody who doesn't use technologies, as time goes progresses as do the used of technologies and the way the world functions, people that do not use ICT or will not use ICT will soon find that in some cases they will need to use it as there will be no other alternatives as eventually technology will cancel out any man make sources.
